The stick holders are terrific and much safer for the dogs .
Hold-a chew don't hold very well The new Hold-a-chew doesn't hold the "hole-less" chews like the previous version did. We may have an aggressive pup who manages to release his chew when it's still too long, but my worry is he'll swallow it whole, which he's done in the past. I liked the chews with the holes better.

It sounds like the problem may be more with the undrilled rolls than the new Hold-a-Chew. We still offer the large collagen rolls and bully sticks with drilled holes. They are in the drop down when you choose your item. Also, you can email us any time you are about to order (or right after you order) to specify that you want the drilled holes.
We agree that it is very important that the chew is secure in the holder which is the purpose of the holder. Make sure the rounded part of the chew is positioned in the bottom area where the V is. Tighten as secure as you can so it wedges into the V. It usually helps to wait a minute after you tighten, then hold on to the chew for extra leverage as you tighten one final time.
We also recommend re-tightening after your dog has been chewing for awhile. The chews will soften as they are moistened with saliva. It is also a great excercise for trust and sharing for your dog. They are usually reluctant to give it to you the first time or 2, after they realize you will give it back, they are more willing to share.

what a great idea!! I rarely gave my dogs chew sticks anymore but now I can let my dogs chew on a chew stick and don't have to worry about them swallowing it whole when it gets soft! I also love the opportunity to buy healthy chew sticks so they can have them more often! I tried them on my 3 dogs first and now we are using them in our dog rescue!
